Second Story : A BIT OF HAPPINESS

Dave was surfing through his favorite pages of Wikileaks, when the camera pans out to focus on Tia, who is just to enter the café. She is standing on the opposite footpath, waiting for the traffic lights to turn green. She is quite happy today; her dad has accepted her proposal of marrying Dave, an Archeological research scholar. Dave never proposed to Tia but she liked her, not that usual girl on the street always enjoying their private life. Tia has often visited Dave’s home and has great respect and love for his mother. Her mom also accepted her quite easily. They both are a bit conservative on their approach to life. They greatly admire family values; Dave’s life was almost surrounded by his mom before Tia came to his life. They met at college five to six years ago at a thanks giving ceremony; Tia is a bit junior to Dave, which helped them to make a great match. Dave feels a sense of responsibility upon Tia, which she really likes. Though they are about five years apart but Tia deeply loves Dave. She realized this when her father suddenly fell ill and met a heart attack. Dave took responsibility of his treatment and care along with his friend. That was the time when they both came closer and naturally fell in love. Tia's parents also liked Dave’s responsibility towards them and Tia since she is their only child. Dave would frequently visit Tia's home to hear about her father’s health. Both the families gradually came close to each other and supported in hour of need. Tale full of sorrow was their daily routine suddenly changed into the slender breeze of happiness. The camera as an object zooms in and out to focus into the center of this relationship.

They first met at this same café then they again rediscovered themselves in college. Gradually as their relationship grew, came their parents. Tia took the first step when she visited Dave’s sick mother and took care of her. On her first visit to Dave’s home she turned things in her favor. Her words and actions really touched the old lady. Tia cooked a great meal for the mother and son duo and also shared it with them too. The "hub" as the café is popularly called among the young generations is a great nesting ground for the whole college going lot. They would spend odd hours there discussing various things among them. The "hub" is always bubbling with life and this drew some old intellectuals into the den. The camera focuses on every aspect and zooms in to some details of a few members of the café. The owner of the café enjoys the company of almost every visitor and takes personal care of them. She is an old lady assisted by her older husband in properly running and managing the café. This old couple tries their best to spread the theme of happiness and love among all their customers by giving a bit of emotional support. They are a childless couple but enjoy the company of young people. They got actively involved in making the relationship between Dave and Tia a reality. They encouraged them by mentioning previous events of similar kind. They feel proud of themselves and preach that ‘try to make a relation but do not break it'.

Happiness should be in every piece of life. One must not lose hope at all, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. This message is being tried to convey through the lines of this story. Dave and Tia, the old couple managing the internet café are all examples of this happiness. The old couple lost their only child, their son a fighter pilot, who was killed in an air crash in the Kargil war. But over the last ten years, they lived only by watching their grandson grow up in front of their eyes. Little Rehan was only a month old when his father left them for a fighting mission in Jammu and Kashmir. Her mother was greatly supported by her in laws and she feels about them more than her own parents. After a few days of their son’s demise they started the internet cafe and Rehan and his mother would frequently come to support the business. Now, Rehan is a young man of about twelve years old. Taking time out of her studies she comes to support his grandpa and grandma. Her mother, Ruma also comes in order to support the business. They all know that little Rehan is their only source of happiness of living in this world. Rajiv's parents tried to marry off Ruma, since she is too young to carry her life alone. But after the news of conceiving Rehan came she totally withdrew from that idea. She cried by their feet of not throwing her out with little Rehan. She said that she got everything in this little house, happiness, sorrow and love so she cannot leave them in her present lifetime. The camera zooms in to focus on the expressions of each character.
